RECOVERY CORPS, POLICYLINK TO HOST BRIEFING ON PROGRESS MADE AND NEW FUNDING AVAILABILITY TO ASSIST IN HUMAN RECOVERY
WHO
The Louisiana Family Recovery Corps is a non-profit organization based in Baton
Rouge, La., that was formed in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita to address
the personal needs of Louisiana individuals and families (housing, recovery
planning, children's services and emotional well-being). See www.recoverycorps.org

PolicyLink is a national research and action institute advancing economic and social equity by Lifting Up What Works. For nearly two years, PolicyLink has worked with local, state and national partners to achieve more equitable development in the Louisiana rebuilding process. WHAT
The Recovery Corps and PolicyLink will host a News Briefing and Status Report
on Human Recovery of Hurricane Katrina Survivors.
Raymond A. Jetson, chief executive officer of the Louisiana Family Recovery Corps and a former member of the Louisiana House of Representatives, will brief reporters and representatives of other agencies and organizations interested in the long-term recovery of Hurricane Katrina survivors on the following topics:
- The current condition of survivors
- Progress made in the past two years to support survivors living within
and outside of Louisiana
- Availability of more than $7 million in funding and other investments to support human recovery
Angela Glover Blackwell, founder and CEO of PolicyLink, will address findings from PolicyLink's new report, "Building a Better New Orleans: Hope Needs Help," which highlights the tremendous strides made by some of the city's most vulnerable people and showcases the volunteers and agencies that helped to make that progress possible. The report, which was released Aug. 24, 2007, also calls on the federal government, the private sector, and the public to do more to get New Orleans the help it needs to create a truly vibrant and equitable city.
